Steve Grimes
Chief Digital Officer
The Topps Company, Inc.
Steve Grimes joined Topps in August 2008 as the
company’s first Chief Digital Officer. In this capacity he has global
responsibility for developing new digital offerings for the various
brands within the Topps family. Since joining the company Grimes had
lead the development of a number of pioneering initiatives including 3D
Live, the first mass consumer use of augmented reality technology,
Facebook and iPhone apps and the launch of Match Attax Live, a global
soccer trading card game.
Before joining Topps, Grimes spent more than 3 years at the NBA where he
was Vice President of Interactive Services responsible for the
award-winning NBA.com Internet Network, the league’s extensive wireless
initiatives and providing innovative broadband content for NBA TV
Broadband. In February 2007, Grimes was named to Sports Business
Journal’s Top 20 most influential people in online sports..
Prior to joining the NBA, Grimes spent more than five years working for
RealNetworks, a leading creator of digital media services and software.
As General Manager, Grimes led the planning and execution of the
relaunch for RealNetworks’ SuperPass Subscription Service developing
broadband video programming with leading media and sports companies.
Grimes started his digital career in the earliest days of the Internet
at Starwave Corporation, where in 1995 he helped develop some of the
first online advertising programs for ESPN.com, ABCNews.com and the
official sites of the NFL, NASCAR and the NBA. Before the Internet he
spent a number of years in traditional advertising at Bayer Bess
Vanderwalker in Chicago and Stratton Advertising in London.
Grimes attended the Plymouth College of Art & Design in Plymouth
England, where he graduated with honors. He currently resides in
Berkeley Heights, New Jersey with his wife Lindy and two sons Nick and
Ben.
