Timo Soininen
Sulake Corporation Ltd.

Sulake is a social entertainment company focused on online social places and games. The company’s goal is to inspire playful interaction and self-expression in people by creating easy to use social online services.

Since his appointment as CEO in August 2001, Timo has been instrumental in creating the company’s business plan and driving swift business growth and international expansion to revenues exceeding 50M€ ($70M) in 2008.

Leading over 270 employees across 12 offices worldwide, Timo is passionate about the continued growth of the company’s flagship property, Habbo Hotel. Habbo Hotel is the world’s largest teen focused virtual community with 15 million monthly visitors globally. Additionally, Timo has built Sulake to be one of the pioneers and experts in online user monetization via micropayments globally. The company has built an impressive network of 150 payment channels in 31 countries.

Prior to joining Sulake, Timo worked for an online recruitment company, StepStone, as Marketing Director for Finland and Sweden. He also has more than ten years’ experience and a proven track record in senior posts in both consumer and B2B marketing in international FMGC companies, United Biscuits and SCA Mölnlycke.

Timo holds a M.Sc. (Econ.) degree in marketing from Helsinki School of Economics. He has four children and lives in the Helsinki area with his family. His hobbies include tennis, skiing and reading.
